More big wave dreams

One day a Freudian psychoanalyst will have to tell me what my recurring dreams about big waves and big water mean...  I have had 2 more lately.

In one, I was in a glass cube house - it was pretty much made up entirely of panes of glass, cathedral height glass walls, and flat glass paned ceilings.  The house belonged to my brother.   It was raining heavily outside, pounding against all that glass, and I began to get worried.  My worries became reality when water started leaking from between the panes.  The water level outside started rising as well, increasing flood waters visible through the glass walls.

In the other dream, less than a week later, I was on the shore of Antarctica, high on a cliff or platform looking down at the coastline.  There were people on the shore and I watched as the waves started getting bigger and bigger - 30-40 feet and wondered if the people would survive the sub-zero temperature water that was starting to hit everyone.

Recent dreams

I have been remiss in writing lately...  Some recent dreams involved:

1)  My recurring dream of huge waves and tsunami-force waters again.  The twist this time is that I was indoors, in the hypothetical Hawaii house of our graphic designer -- which had a wall of windows upon which the waters rose.

2)  My pink stuffed animal pig was black, and I was in bed holding it.  Someone else was in bed with me, and we were trying hard not to touch.

3)  I went with my parents to visit my friend GH who was staying in a huge luxe multi-room hotel suite.  He got a phone call from what sounded like a girlfriend, so we left him and went off to explore the suite.  I opened a closet door, and a tall blond guy jumped out on me. Apparently he was GH's friend and they would ambush each other Inspector Clouseau-Kato style.

Water ride NYC

I was driving in with a couple people into New York City, and I decided to ditch them for the train at the last minute before going into the tunnel, so that I could go on this underground water ride. From the subway, you could ride on an innertube over rapids, while people tickled your feet and butt from below. It was a little odd having strangers touch you, but I was assured that all the volunteer ticklers had a strict ethos of non-groping -- it was a community and everyone looked out for everyone else. At the end of the ride, you exited out into a nice cafe with free snacks and beverages and mingling.

Bizarre Foods

I was with Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods and we were in a boat in China helping our hosts pull up thousand-year-old eggs that had been made not by being buried in lye, but instead had been preserved underwater in a river.

My mom passed by somehow and asked what it was, and was surprised when Andrew Zimmern told her pi-dan (Chinese for preserved egg) because she had never seen them made this way underwater. I told him he should be proud to be eating something my mom had never even heard of.

Underdressed and underwater

I had to attend a dedication ceremony for a dormitory at Princeton, and I looked down and realized I was wearing jeans with holes in them, and I needed to go home to change. It was a long walk home, and I was running late.

Then I found myself having to do a reality-tv-style challenge that involved wading into the ocean. Some of the other challengers chose to wear flotation devices, but I figured the water was cold and I'd probably last longer keeping myself warm by treading water. However, as I waded in, the water didn't get any deeper than a few inches. There wasn't enough water to properly do the challenge, the judges thought, so they decided to move the challenge to a pool. Since it didn't seem to be as fair or interesting in a swimming pool, they decided to change the challenge to having us choreograph an underwater dance routine in the pool.

Cannibal zombie rowers

Redneckhunter and I going on a speedboat ride. We were just on for a few minutes, and it was crazy fast jumping, swerving. We stopped momentarily and I knew I had to take Dramamine if I was going to make it any longer. Then we realized that we were being followed by sculling boats with ominous cannibal zombie rowers. We took off and they chased after. We realized there were other boats escaping the scary rowers, and we banded together to figure out the best way to evade them. The waterways were like a grid, and we turned left and right trying to lose our pursuers, but got very confused as to any sense of direction, and kept getting cut off by more scary rowing boats. At one point we decided to break off from the others, and turned down a waterway on our own. We realized we were close to where we had started.

How do you make it stop?

While on vacation, the night after quite a choppy ferry ride, I dreamed that redneckhunter and I lived on a houseboat, which was tipping and swaying quite dangerously. And like all people who live on houseboats (*sarcasm*) I had decorated the place with tons of glass objects like tall vases and such. So I was running around the place, scooping up vases before they rolled off of counters and tables, and with my hands full of glass items, I kept saying to my unresponsive husband, "How do you make it stop? How do you make it stop?"

Close quarters

Redneckhunter and I were in a motel with 2 of his friends - we had connecting rooms with an adjoining bathroom. I went into the bathroom while redneckhunter was taking a shower, and the floor was full of water. It was one of those walk-in tubs for old people, and he had forgotten to close the door.

Then we were eating at a cafeteria, and his friend Cashman was the first to sit down with his food, only he had picked a very small booth, so the 4 of us were squeezed in to a tiny booth. Only since he had already started eating, he was too lazy to want to move and find another table.

Swim-up Zoo & VHS tape

I was at a swim-up zoo - it was like the safari drive idea, but with water animals. Two girls I went to high school with were also there, and a friend who used to live in Princeton. The zookeeper apparently had a child with one of the sea creatures - a weird hybrid.

I was running with Debbie and was having a hard time, then I realized it was because I was carrying a backpack. I didn't even have it on with both shoulders, I was carrying it with one strap and running lopsided. So I decided to ditch the bag by the side of the road, but first I opened it to see if there was anything in it that I'd be worried about leaving. The only thing I decided to take out and run with for fear that it would get stolen was a VHS tape of the movie "After Hours."

I was at a cocktail party, sitting at a table with my current co-workers, and I ran into my boss at my old job. I was self-conscious because my hair was messy.

Wild Boar-Elephant Attacks

I just had one of the weirdest dreams I can remember having in a long time.

I was at the ocean with my brother.  We were swimming out in the waves, and he said he wanted to do a test.  From nowhere he produces a gallon jug of cooking oil (while skulling), and pours out about half of it, then tells me to swim through it for a bit, so I can see what it feels like.  It was just a thin, oily feeling, not like gulf coast oil spill covering you until you die.

We continue swimming back, and now I am holding the oil container, which is half oil, and half seawater now.  At some point it gets really heavy and almost drags me under for a minute.  Then my powerful swimming talent kicks in [ed: I did used to swim as a kid], and I get over it.  In my sleeping brain, this was some sort of science experiment that I now "got" as to why the jug suddenly got heavy, something to do with density changes and swimming through pockets of warmer water.  I called my brother over and gave the jug to him, and then he sank, until his swimming memory kicked in too.

Sauna room gawking

Redneckhunter and I were at a small water park with 2 of his former co-workers. We were in wading pools, but the water was kind of deep for me. It came up to above my chin, so I had to bob to keep my head above water. Then we went into an underwater passageway that opened up to a sauna room. The room had windows to the outside, where people had gathered to watch us. So we sat and stared at them staring at us. Only then I noticed that no one was actually looking at us - they were all staring at Megan Fox who was also in the sauna.

Rain Indoors

I was in Africa staying in a big Victorian townhouse. I was sleeping on the top floor, and there was torrential rain outside, and suddenly the rain was inside the house. The roof apparently was not holding out the water, and it was pouring inside. The heavy raindrops on my face woke me up. There were other people sleeping in sleeping bags with me on the top floor, so we retreated down to a lower level where it was still dry.

I wondered why the owners of the house - who were an older British couple - had not fixed the roof, but I figured it was a huge house for just 2 people, and they probably never had to deal with things on the top floor if they didn't need to.

The next day, the sun was shining, and the temperature was astronomically high, and so the wet top floor was like a sauna, the sun baking away all the moisture.

Cars washed away

I was in a parking lot on Elkton Road in my hometown. I had my old Cadillac which I drove in high school, only I was locked out. I saw a car full of young guys, and I flagged them down. Apparently they had the key to my car, only they needed the same key to be able to drive their car. So we agreed to drive together to get the key copied and thus both be able to drive our cars.

However, as we were having this discussion in the parking lot, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed that my car was more than halfway filled up with water. When I turned to look, I saw their car floating away on a high tide of water. We started running down Elkton Road in the opposite direction of the flooding. We reached a post office full of other people seeking refuge.

I couldn't let go.

I was with redneckhunter coming into to our entryway, and I was eating 1/2 of a very large peach. He started peeing and splashed me with pee. I got mad and tried protecting my peach, which only seemed to spur him to splash me more. There was pee spraying everywhere, it was like running under a garden sprinkler, I was completely soaked.

Then, we were in my parents' basement, packing for a trip. We were going somewhere with friends of ours - another couple. Everyone else was packed, they were just waiting for me. I was spending a lot of time packing my carry-on bag - books, mp3 player, headphones, etc. Then it occurred to me, I hadn't actually packed any clothes yet.

Car chase and house-boat

I don't remember how this dream starts.  The first thing I remember is that I am driving down a road that is mostly straight, but is going up and down hills.  It isn't an interstate because it has lights and traffic, but it's not a local road either.  It's like a major state road, but there are no businesses on the side, just a grass median and white pavement.
