Lemmy
Dreamed I was hanging out with Lemmy in a kitchen and he made me a gourmet black and white milkshake, with really good chocolate syrup. Who knew Lemmy was a gourmand?

Mike Skinner ice
I was hanging out backstage with Mike Skinner of The Streets - I had probably won a contest or something. He handed me a circular ice cube - didn't put it in a drink or anything, just put it in my hand. "Here's an ice cube with my face on it," he said. (I had seen a news story recently on Virgin Airlines serving ice cubes with Richard Branson's face on them in first-class passengers' drinks.) "Wow, it looks just like you!" I replied. And it really did.

Speechless with Tom Waits
Redneckhunter and I were at a funeral/parade out on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia. Then we head to lunch with some other funeral-goers. As we sat down at our table, I noticed Tom Waits sitting at the table across from us! Turns out our friends the Worthingtons knew him and introduced him. While I, the superfan, was just dumbstruck and couldn't think of anything to say to him, Redneckhunter was just chatting up a storm with Tom about some spot on the California coast that they both liked.

Cake Desk
I was in school with James Allan from the band Glasvegas. Then things got a bit horror movie-ish. I can't remember exactly...
Turns out though, it was just a movie, and I left the theater (a big theater, like Lincoln Center). As I was leaving, someone offered to show me a desk made entirely out of cake that apparently was a prop in the movie.
I met up with my cousins outside -- we were, naturally, on our way to go eat somewhere. Then I was in a hotel room, watching Italian television. The show on the TV was called "Lupo" and was some sort of gritty cop drama. The main character Lupo was a real asshole, and in the scene I was watching, he shoved his dick into a bad guy's mouth.

Wierdness at the movie theater and in the dining hall
Redneckhunter and I were walking through a big McMansion-type house. The house had an actual movie theater built in the house. A movie was starting so we tried to grab some seats - the theater was pretty full. We had to end up sitting separately, and I sat next to an African-American girl. After a while, I realized she was rubbing my leg. I started looking around for another empty seat, and I saw my friend Jim down the row across the aisle.
Later I was in a college or high school dining hall, wandering through trying to find a seat. I saw the guys from the band, The Walkmen, only they were really young. I must have been staring at them, because they noticed it and started joking about me.
After I sat down, I looked up and noticed an Asian girl across the room, who had a haircut like mine, with blunt bangs. Then I saw another girl like this, then another. They all had different faces, they didn't look like me, but they all had the same haircut, though blunter and more helmety than mine.

Streets video
I was either part of the production and/or actually in a Mike Skinner/Streets video, that was being filmed in Princeton. There was a scene on Palmer Square where we could be seen through a window above J.Crew/PNC Bank. Later we were screening a film and I was sitting with Redneckhunter's former boss. At other points, my former boss and my friend Anthony were also in the dream.

Ray Corvair Trio
Dreamed I was out with petiteseour and redneckhunter, and I saw a marquee advertising that The Ray Corvair Trio was performing. So I got really excited and insisted we buy tickets. The Ray Corvair Trio was a band that my friend Royce and I got really into in the late 90s - even though they were from Boston, they had a standing gig at The Knitting Factory. They dubbed their music as "surf noir," and they had a retro look that Royce and I both were into. I liked the guitar player and she liked the bass player, and we would chat with them after their gigs.
So I was very excited sitting in the theater waiting for the band to come on. The show started and the guitar player (looking 10 years older) was out on stage playing acoustic and singing. Though Ray Corvair was strictly instrumental - they never sang. Very different, I thought. Then it just got weirder. There was spoken word and noises a la Laurie Anderson "O Superman," there was theatrical pantomime, and it was all really mopey. I had to tell redneckhunter and petiteseour that this was nothing like what I liked about them.
I was so pissed, I actually walked up to the stage and started trying to talk to the musicians, to let them know my unhappiness. When that didn't work, I went to the box office to try to get my money back.

Lady Gaga and mistaken pregnancy
Redneckhunter and I were at a Lady Gaga concert. It was a seated concert in a grand old theater. There were lots of dancers and she seemed to be performing David Copperfield-style spectacle magic while singing and dancing - lots of smoke and mirrors type stuff. In one number she appeared to grow taller and taller with larger and larger boxes appearing to grow out of her legs - it was very Alice in Wonderland.
Then I was in NYC at a shop and saw a woman who redneckhunter coaches in rowing. It took me a while to place her. I also ran into a woman from work, and I thought how strange that they'd all be shopping at the same store in New York.
The rower said hi to me while I was looking at some stretchy camisoles. As I examined the camisoles, I saw that the tags had labels like "For 4-6 months" or "6-9 months" and it took me a while to realize that they were maternity clothes and the recommendations were for when to wear them in your pregnancy. I thought, oh no, now she will go back to the team and tell them all that we are expecting! She seemed to be shopping for a dress to wear to her wedding (though to the best of my knowledge she is not engaged in real life...)

Assorted mini dreams
It was a rainy day and I was on my way with redneckhunter to a family gathering. We walked past a house with a porch where there were Princeton alumni wearing their Reunions jackets all going to a party.
Later, I was running in race with Debbie. It was a big event, but it was like the race was an afterthought. There was only a narrow roped off area for the course - the width of a hallway. And it was winding through people drinking and partying. At one point, we ran past a concert stage, and it was Paul Weller performing, so I shouted "I love you, Paul Weller" and waved as I ran past.
Then I was on a New York city street corner with Clinton Kelley of "What Not to Wear." He had an Eastern European accent. I was telling him how the latest episode of "How I Met Your Mother" had made me feel old because Barney is upset that a girl he slept with lied about her age when she was actually 31.
Then I was with my family on a family vacation and we were calculating expenses where everyone had to document every cup of coffee and pay for his or her share.

Pete Townshend
The Who was playing at a small bar, and I was right up front by the stage, which was about 6 feet tall even though the place was tiny. Because the stage was so tall, I could really only see Pete Townshend who was right in front of me, but I was by myself, rocking out, having fun. Then I realized that Pete Townshend had come down and was taking me backstage up the stairs and onto the stage. I thought to myself, you know, he doesn't look that old up close and in person. There were a few other girls up there, but they were all wearing matching shorts and t-shirts (like cheerleaders or Hooters girls). Then they had us moving a row of schoolroom desks and chairs around, but something about it was really silly to me, so I kept laughing at it all.

Sebastian Bach and Paper Planes
I was walking around the Main Street of my hometown with Sebastian Bach, and another guy and girl. This was not the hot "18 to Life" Sebastian Bach of the 80s, but instead was the weathered and bloated 41-year-old "Celebrity Fit Club" Sebastian Bach of today. Still he looked pretty sharp in a khaki suit, and he was definitely flirting with me. While we were walking around the other girl and I were singing "Paper Planes."

Casually held hostage
I was in an older building with a large lecture hall. Something kind of like Princeton's McCosh 50 lecture hall, kind of like a social hall of a church. The mob showed up with guns - they were looking for someone - a revenge hit. I ran between the wooden seats, but it became apparent they weren't going to shoot us, just hold us hostage while they rooted out their man. In fact they let us move about quite a bit - I went out to a common area outside the lecture hall, and started talking to Nick Cave who was chain-smoking cigarettes. He seemed nervous and I wondered if he was the guy they were looking for.
Later on in the dream, there was something about Redneckhunter and the Freemasons.

Tom Waits again...
I was part of some sort of music conference. 1000yregg was asking if I had met a lot of recording industry people, but I told him that was what my business manager was for. I was supposed to meet up with some girl at a club, but missed her. The next morning, I was having coffee with Tom Waits - sitting at a high table at a sidewalk cafe on a small town main street. I was wearing my grey faux fur jacket, but also had with me a green leather jacket and 2 black leather jackets as well.
Tom said, c'mon let's go, and let's swing by the hotel first. I asked, which hotel are you staying at, and he said the same as you. So we got into a big convertible Cadillac, and I threw all the jackets in the back seat, and as we left, I said, but at some point we've got to go back and pick up the truck (which was Redneckhunter's old Toyota pickup), and Tom said, well, it's Kyle's truck now (Kyle is Redneckhunter's younger brother), and I said, no, you mean, it's Reid's truck now (who is Redneckhunter's youngest brother).

Nick Cave, Neil Young, and Skinheads
Only vague recollections of recent dreams but here goes:
1 - I was waiting on the balcony above a large atrium of a monumental building - akin to the modern wing of the National Gallery. A bunch of others were waiting with me - they looked like paparazzi, and all of us were attempting to be nonchalant and ignored each other. One of the other people up there was Nick Cave. Then our target arrived in the atrium below. He was a large muscular but puffy skinhead. He was pontificating below, and at some point there was also a sexual display with two guys going down on him.
2 - One morning, I awoke from my dream saying "But I don't like Neil Young."

Mike Skinner with monsters and assorted tedium
I dreamed that redneckhunter and I lived in my parents house, the house I grew up in, which we rented from our current landlord (a very lax and lazy landlord). He, in fact, rented out all the houses on the street, and so we were stuck with the most obnoxious trashiest neighbors. As I articulated in the dream to redneckhunter, the problem is that he rents to anyone - he never did a credit check, background check of any sort on any of our neighbors. I also said to him that it was to the point where I was afraid of driving in our own neighborhood because I was afraid of everyone drunk driving.
Next part of the dream, I was in a house with Mike Skinner of the Streets and his entourage, only instead of sidekick/manager Ted Mayhem, his main #2 was a fatter bigger version of Skinner himself. We were all working on a combination concert movie/horror movie -- a pseudo-documentary of the band on tour ... with zombies.

Music as Language

Wish I remembered more of this dream, because the first part involved some mild making out with Tom Waits (sigh...)
Later on, I'm with my writer friend Gabe and my brother, on a platform. There are crowds of people all around and below us, like it's some kind of urban festival. The city itself is futuristic, and there's instrumental music playing. We speculate that the music is the language of aliens (we all seem to take it for granted that there are aliens among us) - the music is kind of "Close Encounters-ish." When Gabe leaves the table, my brother asks me if he's gay.
