Lemmy
Dreamed I was hanging out with Lemmy in a kitchen and he made me a gourmet black and white milkshake, with really good chocolate syrup. Who knew Lemmy was a gourmand?

Bizarre Foods
I was with Andrew Zimmern of Bizarre Foods and we were in a boat in China helping our hosts pull up thousand-year-old eggs that had been made not by being buried in lye, but instead had been preserved underwater in a river.
My mom passed by somehow and asked what it was, and was surprised when Andrew Zimmern told her pi-dan (Chinese for preserved egg) because she had never seen them made this way underwater. I told him he should be proud to be eating something my mom had never even heard of.

Cake Desk
I was in school with James Allan from the band Glasvegas. Then things got a bit horror movie-ish. I can't remember exactly...
Turns out though, it was just a movie, and I left the theater (a big theater, like Lincoln Center). As I was leaving, someone offered to show me a desk made entirely out of cake that apparently was a prop in the movie.
I met up with my cousins outside -- we were, naturally, on our way to go eat somewhere. Then I was in a hotel room, watching Italian television. The show on the TV was called "Lupo" and was some sort of gritty cop drama. The main character Lupo was a real asshole, and in the scene I was watching, he shoved his dick into a bad guy's mouth.

The Fortress
I was scaling a fortress wall of some kind, along with many other people. There were people on the inside of the fortress helping us over, and so a huge shirtless muscle-bound guy basically picked me up and lifted me over the wall.
Then we were in a cafeteria getting lunch. I couldn't decide what I wanted. There was a special on pork belly served over a salad, but I was leaning toward the spicy chicken rice bowl.
After that, it was like I was in the world of Game of Thrones, in a cathedral that looked kind of like the Princeton chapel. There was a "champion" who was supposed to accompany the king - he looked like Alside from True Blood. But the king didn't like him, and instead summoned two dragons which appeared from out of the cathedral rooftop, perhaps gargoyles come to life. Everyone had to cover their faces with orange Shamwows when the King passed. There was also a "talking head" in the King's entourage - the head sat on a platter, but was fully alive, with no body.

Visit to the Mall
I was at the mall with Debbie and petiteseour. They were shopping while I was sitting at a cafe table eating a sandwich voraciously, talking to someone. In my gesticulations while talking I accidentally flung half my sandwich across the mall corridor. It landed at the feet of a man, who then bent down, picked it up, and started eating it - I was shocked!
Then I wanted to go wash my face, so I stopped at a sink that was near the server station and splashed water on my face, but then wanted to walk into the bathroom to actually wash it. Of course, there was a line for the bathroom, so I had to stand around dripping.
Debbie came back to show us a pair of glasses she was thinking of buying. They were large round 70s-style glasses that were prescription glasses that tinted dark in the sunlight.
Then we got in the car. I had to sit on the lap of a guy who looked like Parker, a minor character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The mall was in a bad neighborhood of Trenton, and for some reason we had to drive way out of the way past dilapidated houses in order to get out of the parking lot. There were political signs all over the yards.

Close quarters
Redneckhunter and I were in a motel with 2 of his friends - we had connecting rooms with an adjoining bathroom. I went into the bathroom while redneckhunter was taking a shower, and the floor was full of water. It was one of those walk-in tubs for old people, and he had forgotten to close the door.
Then we were eating at a cafeteria, and his friend Cashman was the first to sit down with his food, only he had picked a very small booth, so the 4 of us were squeezed in to a tiny booth. Only since he had already started eating, he was too lazy to want to move and find another table.

Four dinners
I was with redneckhunter and his brother, and I was eating KFC chicken. And redneckhunter's brother said to me "No wonder you're feeling bloated - isn't this your fourth dinner?" And I said, "No I only had one dinner ... and 3 snacks." Then we were in our kitchen and I was wearing these tall turquoise platform sandals - they had about 5-inch tall skinny heels and looked like stripper shoes.

Cooking for actors
I was part of a summer stock theater production out in the country, though I couldn't figure out exactly what my role was, why I was there, since I don't act or direct, or do lighting or sound or stage sets or anything. It reminded me of an internship I had at a summer arts festival in New York State where I first realized that I really hated actors as people to hang out with. Anyway, then it occurred to me - or I kind of decided - that I was the cook.
So I set up a buffet meal - both meat and vegetarian options. One actress started asking me about whether the vegetarian entrees were truly vegetarian, were the beans cooked in chicken stock, etc. So I was kind of a bitch to her about it. I preferred dealing with the crew over the actors.

Communal Living
First part of the dream I was stuck sleeping in a small space on a bunch of air mattresses with my department from work (I had this dream before the weekend's storms that brought power outages which left some work colleagues seeking shelter in the local gymnasium!)
Then I dreamed about a 20-something social media blogger acquaintance of mine who lives quite a "Sex and the City" lifestyle as a young media maven. She was there as well and asked if I wanted to head out with her to do some "food hopping" as she called it - meaning grazing at various eateries. It was midnight at the time, so all I thought, was "oh the life of the young..."

Beetles in the rice!
I was back at my parents' place, hanging out in my room with my childhood next door neighbor. I noticed that my mom had hung up on the walls of my room a variety of photo frames in different sizes. These were the large frames that had mats for multiple photos, and my mom had left in the sample photos of random people that had come with the frames when you buy them.
I went downstairs for breakfast, and many members of my extended family were there. I went to get some rice out of the rice cooker and we were out, so I went down to the basement to get more rice to make another batch. In my parents' basement is a storage closet in which they have kept all our toys - only when I walked in, the toys were gone, and instead there were stacks and stacks of Kleenex boxes. I had a container and was scooping rice out of our big rice tin, and then I noticed that I must have scooped from the wrong tin because there were a bunch of almonds in my container. I started scooping the almonds out of my container, when I noticed a bunch of huge beetles inside my container. They freaked me out a little, but there was one that was just a skeleton, so I started with that one. I picked it up with my fingers and then it started to move! I dropped it and really freaked out and woke up saying "AAAAH!"

My hero

Anthony Bourdain was doing a bunch of live shows. We were friends, and he wanted to try to do a smaller show - like 700 people - but said his managers kept pushing him to do stadiums. (The likelihood of Tony Bourdain filling a stadium in real life is pretty much zero, but clearly his hero status in my eyes carries through in my dreamworld).
So I finally got a smaller show together for him - it was for a Chinese audience. I sat in the audience wearing a red college sweatshirt. The person next to me asked, is that where Bourdain went to college? And I said yeah, it seemed like an appropriate thing to wear. (In real life Tony went to the Culinary Institute of America, hardly the kind of school that would have "fan" attire, but again... some people like football stars, I like food writers)
There was a vertical banner hanging from the rafters on the side of the stage welcoming Tony in Chinese, along with some great "Engrish." Tony came onto the stage to cheers and roaring applause. My dad was serving as translator. Only when the act started, it seemed like my dad was more in the spotlight than Bourdain.

School lunch
I dreamed I was in a little kid's body - to be exact, that of my 6-year old niece. I was in school and sitting next to Danny from 30 Rock. Even though he was in my class, he was Danny as his own adult self. I was eating an Eggs Benedict-style dish, only instead of the English muffin, it was a cinnamon crumpet, and instead of Hollandaise, it was a cheesier sauce - pretty delicious.

Vague Recollections
Haven't been writing them down right away, so have not been remembering my dreams too well lately. But here are some things I remember:
Robert Downey Jr.
kissing Johnny Depp
Being in Japan and packing with my brother there.
My 13-year-old niece being little again.
Eating and feeling a little nauseous.

Banquet for Two
I was at a Chinese banquet, except that only myself and one other guest showed up. But it was enough food for the standard table of 10. There were many courses, but the ones I remember were lobster and giant prawns. I was taking pictures, naturally, for the blog. Then I had a thought akin to "If a tree falls in the woods," if a Chinese banquet is amazing but not really eaten, then was it actually delicious?

Strangers on a Plane
Redneckhunter and I were running to catch a plane - only the terminal was more like a subway station, and to get to the plane, we ran down an escalator to a train platform where the plane was waiting. The conductor/airline steward yelled at me for running, but as soon as we stepped on the train/plane started moving.
I grabbed a seat that was sideways and elevated a few steps up. There was a girl cooking in the middle of the plane. She was willing to share her food, but I and the others were wary of sharing a stranger's food. She had a Russian accent, and kept offering the food. She had some tomatoes, but she kept calling them berries. I noticed that there were also vending machines, so at least I knew that I could buy something if I got hungry.
I was sitting next to a blond teenage guy with an Amish bowl haircut, and I was wearing a down coat and gloves. The kid said to me, I wondered if you might want to go out with me when we get back home. I said, you live in New York? And he said, well, not really... I knew he couldn't see my wedding ring, so I said, well, sorry, I'm taken.
The 1000yregg came up - but it was 1000yregg before his 50-pound weight loss. Naturally, his concern was where we should eat once we got home.

Snow White and sand pancakes
I had a full-on Snow White and the Seven Dwarves dream. I was Snow White, the dwarves looked like the Disney dwarves, and they were singing the song, only instead of "Whistle While You Work," they were singing "Listen While You Work."
Then we all sat around a very short round table in little chairs and ate sand pancakes. In typical Disney fashion, even though they were absolutely disgusting, we were all very cheery and smiley while eating them.

Food and Fetishwear
The dream started out with me walking on Princeton campus near the football stadium. Nick was busy, so I was trying to figure out dinner by myself, and was headed in the direction of north Nassau Street. So I made it up to Nassau Street, only this is a Nassau that only exists in my dream world. I'm pretty sure I've dreamed it before (though it could be deja vu). It's almost like Nassau, but with businesses that don't really exist. I walked past a dream-world health food deli, and decided to go into a sit-down restaurant that I had not been to. I thought to myself, I don't think I've ever eaten at a real sit-down restaurant with waiters by myself, so I should do it. I had a book in hand, so I had something to occupy me. As I perused the menu posted on the sidewalk, I ran into someone I knew (who was not in reality anyone I know). He was young (maybe one of Nick's rowers?) and looked like a young, less ugly, Peter Lorre (so probably a coxswain instead). Heading inside, and looking forward to dining alone, I was annoyed that Peter-Lorre-look-alike followed me in and sat at my table.

Antibiotic-fueled dreams
I've been sick for the past few weeks, and sleeping A LOT. I believe that there was a 48-hour period in which I was asleep for all but 4 hours of that time. One would think that cough syrup, Nyquil, and so on would have led to some fine and vivid dreams, but I didn't remember a thing after a solid 40 hours of sleeping (jeez, that's like a work week of sleeping!)
Until I start my antibiotics last night...
